Wynter Gordon ‘Dirty Talk’ Music Video
by David
Behold! The new and – I’m gonna say – approved video for ‘Dirty Talk’.
You know how you go get a haircut and next thing you know everyone’s telling you how much better the new ‘do looks? And you’re kinda left there to quietly process the backhanded compliment? This is what’s happening with Wynter and take two of the ‘Dirty Talk’ video.
Nobody was outright dissing the budget Midsummer Night’s Dream-inspired first video, but now that something better has come along, everyone exhales with relieve.
Director Sarah Chatfield (the same Ms behind Wynter‘s last video) delivers a similarly styled accompaniment to their ‘Believer’ promo.
Here are three stylistic ooh-aahs about le nouveau ‘Dirty Talk’:
1) Properly-waisted pants.
Kids, it’s back with a vengeance. Run and tell yo’ mama.
2) Atomic Kitten will have something to say about this.
The colourful graphics projected over raw nekkid body thing strangely recalls that of Atomic Kitten‘s ‘If You Come To Me’ video. I’m not gonna bother with a “who did it better?” comparison. Why? Because last time I checked this ain’t Heat magazine. Great minds think alike – that’s all I can say on the matter.
3) Splicing and split screens.
The beauty about these Wynter/Sarah Chatfield videos is that their budgets don’t have to equate that of a Sydney penthouse. The simplicity and attention to detail is king. Simple studio shot, appropriate level of choreography and video effects that complement the style rather than show it up.
Footnote:
‘Dirty Talk’ rose to a new peak of #4 on the Australian Club Charts this week. It won’t be long before we see this video fill screens across gyms, bars and dance floors across the nation.
