Here is a polished mini-doco interview of Guy talking about his greatest hits package: Twenty Ten.
Our favourite Idol winner reflects on his seven-year career, establishing himself in L.A. and the joys of mentoring on X Factor. It’s a personal enough peek into Guy‘s life and I think for many fans – especially ones like my parents who have been disconnected from his achievements since they voted for him on Idol – it’s a good reintroduction.
There’s even footage of this muscle teddy working out in the gym. That’s lovely, innit?
Footnotes:
It’s wonderful to hear Guy loving on his fans because, seriously in all my time doing this blog and making radio, I’ve never come across an Aussie artist with more die hard fans. These folks are incessant, proactive and so consistently excited over anything Guy related.
I remember co-hosting an episode of JOY 94.9‘s Sound Museum with my mate Petro and just being at the receiving end of that buzz around his Guy Sebastian interview – it was so overwhelming and frankly, very exciting, for us as broadcasters.
Twenty Ten is currently perched at #4 on the Australian iTunes chart. The new single ‘Who’s That Girl’ is at #2, only behind X Factor winner Altiyan Childs‘ winning track.

Loved your comments – it so great to see such a phenomenal talent still around in the fickle world of music – he deserves everything that comes his way – so glad that he has such passionate fans that keep him in the music industry and able to write and sing his amazing tunes and perform LIVE – which is a total treat!
It seems like only yesterday when you walked in to the Audtion room and sang ‘Ribbon In The Sky’ What an amazing voice! Today you stand tall and I am so proud and privillaged to be on your amazing journey….

Nice one, Limmy. I must admit I had to google ‘muscle teddy’.
Oh Xannah,
Guy IS the muscle teddy.
It’s been a great journey (that word so often associated with talent show contestants) for his fans as well as him. So many have stuck with him the whole 7 years. Following his progress, buying his music, defending his honour on the internet (lol), spending a fortune travelling to concerts in other states etc. Why? Because you couldn’t find a more talented gifted musician or nicer person if you ran another million talent shows. Australia found a very special talent in the first Australian Idol competition. A very big reason why he and his fanbase is as strong as ever. Thanks for putting up the video. Its a good one to spread around.
Not to mention travelling to Australia (frequently!) from other countries to go to his concerts.
Muscle Teddy as holiday inspiration has been a favourite thing for me. Realising sadly that a gig was a loooooong way away and then … ‘Hang on, I’ve never been to Coolangatta.’
